10 Great Hotels for Families at Disney World Orlando

To ease the wallet a bit, around Disney World there are quite a few three and four-star hotels. They might not have the opulence of the big resort hotels or Mickey Mouse at breakfast, but they're a great base for hopping between the theme parks. Most four-star hotels boast many resort-like elements including pools and gardens, even with kids' facilities and large public areas. Three-star hotels typically offer the best value deal (besides the most basic motel stay), but without all the in-house attractions.

Guy's 5 Tips for the Perfect Stay at Disney World Resort

Disney World Orlando is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the world and the number one destination for a trip and fun with the kids. In the four themed Disney parks at Lake Buena Vista (and in the two Universal parks north or SeaWorld Park), an unforgettable experience entirely tailored for kids of all ages. It is a realm of amusement parks that has become a vacation empire, with hotels in a wide range of prices and types.

  1. The balance between hotel quality and price at Disney World – Near the Disney World resort in Orlando and its four theme parks, there's a mind-boggling array of lodging options. Some are good, some are excellent, and some are downright terrible! It's highly recommended not to compromise on good or at least decent accommodations, so as not to spoil your (already expensive) vacation on a poor hotel facility. It's better to find a distant but good hotel than a nearby one that's bad and costly.
  2. Find the perfect hotel for the family at Disney World – Visiting Disney is an unforgettable experience for parents, but of course, the main focus of the trip is the kids. All the hotels near Disney World are clearly oriented towards children, with facilities, play areas, pools, menus, etc., in-house. Even if you're not staying at Disney hotels or luxury resorts, it's worth finding mid-range accommodations that are comfortable for the whole family. It's preferable for the rooms to be large and spacious, and for the hotel to offer fun options for both young and older kids.
  3. Transportation from the hotel to the theme parks – Many of the hotels near Disney World offer shuttles or at least have agreements with nearby hotels for a shared shuttle. Usually, the shuttles arrive at the entrance to Epcot Park, and from there, you can access the other parks using Disney's internal transportation. Of course, you can also drive to the parks.
  4. When to visit Disney World? – Disney World is almost a perfect fantasy world, but it's still Florida and the weather greatly affects the trip. Summers in Florida are hot and humid, and walking around the parks in the summer sun can be tough (and in the late afternoon, it typically starts to rain). Winter in Disney is perfect, not only because the park is less crowded, but also because of the warm and sunny weather.
  5. A skeptical eye towards online reviews – A significant number of three and four-star hotels near Disney World range from reasonably good to really excellent. There are some with really old facilities or places where service is disastrous and should be avoided. The best way to spot bad hotels is by reviewing online feedback about the hotel. On Booking, TripAdvisor, and almost any website where hotels are booked, you can get familiar with the nature of the hotel based on the experiences of those who have stayed there.
